“Halo”, read as ha-lo, not hei-low, means “mix”.
Why it’s in the list:
I love halo-halo! Nothing beats the Filipino halo-halo. I have tried the iced desserts in Thailand and Singapore, but still our halo-halo is still the best of all! – Sophia Cabantog
Crushed ice + milk + langka + macapuno + sago + jelly + nata de coco + a bunch of other ingredients = refreshing and filling Pinoy dessert.
Add a scoop or two of ice cream to upgrade it to ”special” status.
Ice-themed desserts abound worldwide, but this is still my favorite.
